In the fall of 2016 Michaelle volunteered to coordinate making sack lunches for those in need. Serve Moses Lake needed a group to make the lunches for them to hand out. After some research on what it’d take to do this every week Michaelle agreed and with a couple of friends did some fundraising for food as well as financial donations to purchase items on a weekly basis. This is how the Care Sack program was started and the first day of making sack lunches was on January 3, 2017. In the beginning the need was for 60 lunches. We’re now making 200+/- lunches and distributing them to Serve Moses Lake, the food bank, the Open Doors Sleeping Center and to Big Bend Community College’s Viking Food Pantry.
Donations are sought to keep this program going. We are thankful for all those that have stepped up, giving of their time every week as well as their donations of supplies.
You can make a donation on our website at www.CareMosesLake.com. You are also welcome to bring donations to us any Tuesday at 4:00pm, send us a quick message for more information. We’d also be more than happy to pick up your donation. You can also check out our Amazon Wish List: www.caremoseslake.com.
Help us make sack lunches to give out to those in need. Anyone is welcome to help make lunches, help get food or financial donations and spread the word! Like us on Facebook! or on Instagram!
Thank you to Grocery Outlet for your continued support! The “Independence from Hunger” fundraiser in July helps supply the needed supplies on a weekly basis.
Thanks also to Jeremy for his continued partnership as well as the group of regular volunteers that show up every week to make our community a better place. Together we are all making a difference for those in need. During the winter months we will also be providing a hot soup to the Sleeping Center. Please help us give back by making a financial donation!
In February of 2022 we took the next step to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit so we can support even more non-profits in our community and promote giving back however we can. We’ve been able to help out even more non-profits, check out our website and/or social media pages to see all we’ve been able to do for the community. We value and are thankful for our community partnerships, by working together we are making a difference.
